Event Horizon

The artist Kara Walker work with silhouette
images where she discuss identity and gender
issues for African Americans. This is made
in a Historical context as seen in this amazing
mural located in the lobby of
New School University's Amhold Hall in NYC.
“Event Horizon” was created in response to its
placement. Walker associated the passageway,
a long stairway leading from the main lobby, with
the Underground Railroad, which is represented
as a tunnel.
